Rules and regulations

View our National School Championships 2019-20 Rules and Regulations.

The format for this season competition will remain largely the same following on from the success of the 2018-19 competition.

Taking into consideration feedback provided by schools throughout last years competition we have reviewed some of our rules and regulations and made some updates. Please take the time to read through our updated rules and regulations.

Notable changes to this year’s competition include;

Gender Policy– The 2018-19 regulations will remain largely the same however in the event that a girl/s compete in the boys team, the ratio of merit order must be weighted 3/2 boys to girls in any given fixture.

Player Eligibility – The 2018-19 regulations will remain largely the same. Pupils are eligible to play in more than one age category however schools are not permitted to use the same player in more than 2 age categories. For example if a player plays in both KS3 and KS4 they will not be eligible for the KS5 team.

Bonus Points - No bonus points will be awarded in any fixture playing 'Every Point Counts' scoring system.

Seeding – Stages 1 & 2 will not be seeded. Finals will be seeded based upon England Squash junior rankings. It is the responsibility of the school to request special seeding consideration by submitting relevant Squash level rankings alongside 2 head to head results or any other relevant information against other players competing in the finals (Results can be from external competitions or the National Schools competition). All requests must be submitted by 9am Wednesday 4th March 2020 to be taken into consideration. Once draws have been completed all seeding positions will be final.

Plate Final Scoring System - Plate finals will remain as Every Point Counts however players will only play 2 games against an opponent as oppose to all 3 games. This does not apply to stages 1 & 2.
