England players selected for European under-19s individual tournament

British junior champions Kyle Finch, Lucy Turmel and Elise Lazarus have all been selected to represent England at next month’s European Individual Under-19 Championships in Portugal.

Top ranked players Tom Walsh [1] and Adam Corcoran [2] will also play, while Grace Gear [2] is one of the five girls to be picked.

The tournament takes place from 8th to 16th April and England will take a strong line-up of born winners.

England Academy player Kyle Finch, of Hampshire, is the current British junior under-19 champion, while 16-year-old Elise Lazarus, of Essex, became just the second English girl [after Emily Whitlock] to reach a British Junior Open final in the last decade, in January’s tournament.

Lazarus is also the current holder of the British Junior Championships under-17 trophy, defeating Alice Green in October’s final. Finch emerged victorious against Stuart Macgregor, while Turmel beat Jasmine Hutton in the under-19 finals.

Surrey’s Charlie Lee has returned from a long-standing injury to play in this weekend’s English Junior Open and is also set to represent his country in Portugal.

Harry Falconer, Stuart Macgregor, Alice Green and Jasmine Hutton complete the list of 11 selected for the competition. England will also be represented in the European under-19 teams’ competition, due to be announced at a later date.
