England squad named for the 2023 European U19 Championships

With Asia Harris and Jonah Bryant stepping up to lead the charge, England Squash has announced the formidable line-up that will be chasing silverware at the European U19 Championships in Switzerland between 1-9 April.

After beating France in an exhilarating final last year, England will be unrelenting in their pursuit of a 12th consecutive European team title in Langnau am Albis.

The team event includes seven-time national junior champion Jonah Bryant, former European U17 champion Asia Harris, current English National U19 runner-up Yusuf Sheikh, four-time national junior champion Amelie Haworth, and current English National U19 semi-finalist Abd-Allah Eissa.

For the individual event, the team players will be joined by 2022 Bucks Silver U19 runner-up Isabel McCullough, 2022 British Junior U17 champion Alex Broadbridge, 2022 British Junior U17 runner-up Meha Shah, current English National U19 quarter-finalist Layla Johnson, and 2022 Warwick Silver runner-up Caleb Boy.

Commenting on the team, Tim Vail, England Development Head Coach, said:

“We’re really looking forward to the European Championships. The squad have shown real determination and commitment at selection events last year and are all keen to pull on the England shirt and compete for medals. I know they’ll do their country proud.”

Lucy Townley, England Squash’s Junior Talent Pathway Manager, said:

“It has been a fantastic year of competition across the junior pathway and we are delighted to be able to name such a strong squad for the Europeans in Zurich. We look forward to seeing this group competing on the European stage and supporting them as they look to retain the title for England.”
