England’s Lust announces her retirement from professional squash
England’s Victoria Lust has announced her retirement from professional squash. The former World No.12 represented Team England at junior and senior level, and claimed titles on the European and World stage.
Luton-born Lust captured four British National junior titles at each age category and made her Team England debut in 2003 at the European Team Under 15 Championships which saw England win gold.
The 30-year-old earned her first senior call-up for England in 2015 at the European Team Championships and was part of the team who captured four European gold medals and two World silver medals.
On the PSA World Tour, Lust won nine titles, including the Monte Carlo Classic and the Slaight Music and Roundtable Capital Granite Open.
Lust, who now lives in Canada, said: “Basically if all tournaments could be from home here in Victoria, then I would be happily still playing (perhaps)!”
“My favourite memories on tour are probably from representing my country, some of my best friends on tour have been on those teams and there is nothing better then stepping out on court for England and for them.
"I will also miss playing in places like Cleveland, Brooklyn and Chicago as my billets in places like that have become like family, so watch out I’m coming on holiday!
“I am really looking forward to doing everything that I couldn’t do while I was playing. I’m looking forward to enjoying the entire of the ski season this year, that’s for sure! I have also been coaching the whole time I’ve been playing and last year got a head coaching job at a school and I’ve been really enjoying that and looking forward to getting stuck into it more.
“I would also like to quickly thank for their tireless support and help over the years my parents, Sarah, Mike, England Squash and anyone else who helped me along the way!”
National Coach, David Campion said: “Vicky enjoyed a hugely successful junior career in England, from winning national honours to medalling at European and World Junior championships. Vicky then went on to establish herself in the senior game as a top 16 player, with a highest world ranking of #12, and double silver medalist at the World Team Championships in 2016 and 2018.
"She will be remembered for her fierce combative instincts, always giving her very best in every situation. On behalf of England Squash, we wish Vicky well in the next chapter of her life.”
