Junior rankings update

Young boy playing squash

Further to our statement last week, we would like to apologise unreservedly for the issues we are experiencing with the national junior rankings.

We continue to face a variety of challenges including:

  • point allocations are not appearing by players’ results
  • incorrect categories are showing by some players’ names
  • final selection for the British Junior Open 2017.

Please be assured we are doing everything we can to resolve these issues including:

  • contacting individuals/organisations who have had past experience of similar ranking systems. As previously explained, the software the rankings are operated on is no longer supported by the IT company due to its age.
  • examining the spreadsheets required to run the rankings to decipher what is causing the issue.
  • looking at the selection/seeding for the British Junior Open 2017 which will be taken by a panel from the European Squash Federation and England Squash’s High Performance Coaches. English players’ recent results in sanctioned events and international competitions will be taken into consideration as well as previous rankings.

In addition, please note the British Junior Championships results haven’t appeared on the November rankings because the competition took place on the 27-30th October which is after the cut-off date for inclusion - these results are due to appear on the December rankings.

We will continue to keep you updated on our progress and we thank you for your patience.
