The 2017 AJ Bell PSA World Championships in Manchester from 8-17 December and the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Australia (squash competition 5-15 April) will be Matthew’s main focus for the season.

In an announcement posted on Nick Matthew’s You Tube channel ‘Nick Matthew Squash’ and through Matthew’s social media channels the squash star said:

England Squash CEO Keir Worth said, "Nick is a great of the game and we are immensely proud of his achievements including becoming World No.1, claiming three World titles, three British Opens, three Commonwealth Golds, 116 caps for England and captaining England to World Team title success in 2013.

"We have been proud to support him and enjoyed watching him become a remarkable player. He is an inspiration to players across the globe, a fantastic ambassador for the game, and will leave behind a lasting legacy. On behalf of England Squash, I would like to extend our sincere congratulations to Nick, thanks and best wishes in his last season on the PSA circuit.”
