Wall stuns top seed Willstrop in AJ Bell England Squash Championships shock

Nick Wall and James Willstrop
World No.134 Nick Wall put on a clinical performance to sensationally oust top seed and World No.17 James Willstrop from the AJ Bell England Squash Championships in Manchester today.

20-year-old Wall required 35 minutes to edge out fellow Yorkshireman Willstrop - the current British National champion - in straight games in the Group A decider, prevailing 11-8, 11-9, 11-8.

World No.42 and England Squash Challenge champion George Parker awaits Wall in the semis.

Elsewhere in the men’s draw, Declan James and Richie Fallows were rarely tested, topping Groups D and C respectively to book their place in the last four.

In the women’s draw, British National runner-up Jasmine Hutton caused a huge upset by overpowering second seed Millie Tomlinson in straight games: 11-7, 11-3, 11-7 (26m). Hutton and England Squash Challenge champion Georgina will vie for top spot in Group B.

Meanwhile, top seed Sarah-Jane Perry overcame a stern test from England No.4 Julianne Courtice, prevailing 17-15, 11-9, 8-11, 11-9 in just under an hour to remain top of Group A. With three victories under her belt, Perry, the current British National champion, remains on course to reach the finals.
