Willstrop and Whitlock lead strong England charge at European Individual Closed

James Willstrop and Emily Whitlock will head a strong English contingent at the forthcoming AJ Bell ESF European Individual Closed Squash Championships to be staged in Nottingham from 24th to 27th August.

Former World No.1 James Willstrop will be joined by fellow compatriots Declan James, Josh Masters, Charlie Lee and Patrick Rooney, while World No.13 and Allam British Open quarter-finalist Emily Whitlock will compete alongside Millie Tomlinson and leading junior Lucy Turmel in Europe’s most prestigious individual squash championships.

“England will be represented at this year’s championships by a very strong group of players with experience mixed with youth in equal measure,” said England National Coach David Campion.

“Whilst James and Emily will of course be leading contenders for the respective men’s and women’s titles, with some of our top women players already committed to competing at the China Open, the event will offer invaluable ‘big tournament’ experience for our younger English players which will include Lucy Turmel who is currently representing England at the WSF World Junior Championships in New Zealand."

Buy tickets to the championships at isportstore.com or call 0844 8797 949.

Hosted on behalf of the European Squash Federation in partnership with England Squash and the University of Nottingham Sport, this year’s championships will mark the first occasion that the event has been staged in the British Isles. The championships will see Europe’s top ranked players battle it out for Europe’s most prestigious individual title.
