About our club
Welcome to Warwick Boat Club – a members’ club that provides tennis, squash, rowing, bowls and social facilities. Located in one of the most picturesque settings in England, our grounds slope down to the River Avon and – with the historic Warwick Castle as a backdrop – it is a truly magnificent location.
Formed in 1861 the Club is owned and run by its members and is therefore united by a special team spirit. There are 11 state-of-the-art artificial grass courts – ten of them floodlit; two squash courts; a bowling green, and a 2000 meter navigable section of the river.
The Club, which completed a £200,000 scheme to improve its clubhouse facilities in 2013, organises a wide range of social events with great catering, live bands, and barbeques on the banks of the river. The Club attracts members from Warwick, Leamington, Stratford-upon Avon, Solihull, Banbury, Coventry and surrounding areas.
We enter three men's teams and one ladies' teams in to the Warwickshire leagues. Alongside that we run internal squash and racketball leagues to cater for all standards.
We currently have 9 internal squash leagues and 4 internal racketball leagues with 5 players in each, which allows for a game per week and the chance to play and meet new friends.
We have around 30 juniors playing age 5 to 16 yrs, we focus on fun and enjoyment, with a team of male and female coaches all properly qualified and DBS/safeguarding checks in place. A number of juniors have progressed to represent the senior teams, junior county teams, Midlands Junior teams and Junior tournaments across the UK.
We have a wide range of squash and racketball coaching and open sessions on offer,
- Intro to racketball for beginners 13:00 Saturdays
- Junior starters 5 to 9yr 14:00 Saturdays.
- Junior Improvers 10 to 18 yr 13:00 Saturdays
- Club squash and racketball 16:00 to 18:00 Saturdays

- Squash Improvers 19:30 Thursdays

- Ladies only once a month Sundays
- Team Training once or twice a month on Monday Night
- One to One sessions by arrangement
- Racketball open session 16:30 to 18:30 on Fridays
- We can provide equipment for any new starter
There are open squash and social sessions at the half way (December) and end (April) of each squash team season, which will have 30-40 players in a fun team competition followed by food and drinks after.
We are a very inclusive club and a number of the open sessions we hold will have male and female players from 12yrs to 60+ yrs, all with a shared love of the sport.
Non players and partners are very welcome at our club, to watch the sport, enjoy the setting or come along to social events and trips.
We also arrange social squash related trips including partners, in 2023 we started with a night of squash and social at Shrewsbury Squash club, in May we visited Slovenia and lake Bled with 5 days of squash, padel, outdoor adventures such as White water rafting and evenings in a restaurant. To finish the year we visited Brixham, played a local club, trip on some fast boats on the river, then onto two yachts to sail out to sea and round the coast to Brixham, amazing night out, reverse trip the following day,, in 2024 we are taking our juniors to Stoke Gabriel Yacht club to learn to sail and to play some squash too!
We hope this gives you a flavor of what life is like at WBC, its not just about the sport, its being part of a big family! :)
