England Squash has launched its new strategy, Squash: The Future Starts Today, setting out an ambitious plan to grow the game in England and open it up to more people.
At the heart of the strategy is a clear ambition: to make squash more visible, relevant and accessible, with more ways to play, clearer routes into the game and a stronger focus on welcoming new audiences into the sport. It signals a bold step forward and a renewed commitment to helping squash thrive.
The plan is built around five pillars: Play, Perform, Sustain, Thrive and Ignite. It includes a strong focus on growing participation, increasing social impact, supporting performance and using the opportunity of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games to raise the profile of the sport and accelerate long-term growth.
Key priorities include:
- Creating more ways to play that welcome new players and support lifelong participation
- A stronger focus on young people and women and girls, so squash better reflects the communities it serves
- Building a people-powered performance culture and clearer pathways that support both participation and progression
- Strengthening sustainability through smarter operations and a stronger financial base
- Positioning squash as a force for wellbeing and social impact, with safety and wellbeing running through everything we do
England Squash CEO Mark Williams said: “Squash in England has an incredibly strong foundation and some exciting opportunities ahead. This strategy is about building on those strengths and making it easier for more people to discover squash, give it a go and stick with it.
“We want more people to see squash as a sport they want to try, enjoy, feel part of and return to. With LA28 on the horizon and a clear plan for the next few years, we have a real opportunity to reach new audiences, grow the game and build a stronger, more inclusive future for the game in England.”
The strategy also underlines the importance of clubs, counties, coaches and partners in helping build and shape the future of the sport, with a strong emphasis on making squash more welcoming and accessible to new and underrepresented communities.
Alongside the launch, England Squash has updated its visuals, giving a clearer and more consistent presence to support the delivery of the new strategy.
