England Squash launches Play Squash to power a new era of participation

We're thrilled to launch Play Squash, a new national platform set to transform how people discover the sport – combining beginner-friendly advice with bookable local sessions in one place to create the easiest ever route into squash.

Clubs and venues are at the heart of growing the game. From beginner sessions to social club nights, there’s already a huge amount happening, but too often people outside the sport don’t know what’s available.

For the first time, Play Squash’s session finder will bring squash activities together in one place, creating a national gateway into the sport, and giving new players an easy way to find local sessions.

Alongside the session finder, Play Squash gives new players practical, beginner-friendly guidance from which ball to use to what to expect at a group session all designed to help them feel more confident before they step on court.

For clubs, this means a completely free way to reach new players, turn growing interest in squash into bookings and fill more of the sessions they already run. Clubs can get involved at no cost and with no need to change how they already operate, either by using Play Squash for bookings or directing players to their existing booking system.

With squash building towards its Olympic debut at the 2028 Games, Play Squash gives clubs and venues a simple way to make the most of growing interest in the sport and ensure their activities are part of the national offer from day one.

Listing activities takes just a few minutes, giving clubs a quick way to make their sessions discoverable.

Play Squash is part of England Squash’s new strategy, Squash: The Future Starts Today, and its ambition to make the sport more visible, accessible and relevant.

Mark Williams, CEO of England Squash, said:

“Play Squash is a major step forward in how new players can find their way into squash.

It’s fantastic to see more than 500 clubs signed up reflecting the strong motivation clubs have to help grow the game and get behind the platform.

“Our new strategy is about opening squash up to more people and building a stronger future for the game. It also recognises that growing the sport is something we have to do together. Play Squash is one of the first ways we’re bringing that ambition to life with clubs and venues.

“As we build towards LA28, we have a huge opportunity to create a lasting legacy for squash, with clubs at the centre of making that happen. The more clubs and venues that list their activities, the stronger Play Squash becomes as a route into the sport.”

Clubs and venues can now list all their sessions on Play Squash and it only takes a few minutes. Join more than 500 facilities already signed up and make sure that your activities are ready for new players to find.
