Sumner Malik passed away on Saturday at the age of twelve following a long battle with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), a rare form of brain cancer.
A courageous and charismatic boy with a promising future as a squash player, Sumner captured the squash community’s hearts following his two-year battle with DIPG, whilst his family campaigned tirelessly to raise money for his treatment.
Tributes are flooding in from around the world for the boy whose plight touched so many.
Sumner leaves behind parents Camron and Susan and siblings Curtis, Perry, Torrie, Bailey and Heston.
England Squash CEO Keir Worth said:
“We are deeply saddened to learn of Sumner’s passing. Sumner was an inspirational and talented young player with a bright future ahead of him. To lose someone so young is simply heart-breaking.”
Everyone at England Squash extends their sincere condolences and deepest sympathies to the Malik family at this difficult time.
