Our top ranked under 11 and under 13 players from the North and South once again descended on The University of Warwick on Saturday 30th May to battle it out for the coveted Battle of the Border title.

With a change in format where every game won earnt a point for their team, all players fought hard and fair across their four individual matches. After a closely contested event it was Team South who emerged triumphant, outscoring Team North by 108 points to 100.

The format of Battle of the Border ensures all players get a full day of high quality competition and provides a unique opportunity for them to play as a team.

Lucy Townley, England Squash Junior Talent Pathway Manager said:

“The Battle of the Border is one of my favourite events in the season as it is always fiercely competitive but also extremely fun. These players normally compete against each other every weekend so to see them come together as a team and support one another is lovely. The level of squash on display this year was outstanding and makes us really excited for the future.

There were some standout individual performances too.

  • Abi Zeng (South) claimed the female Most Valuable Player (MVP) award with an impressive +121 points difference across her matches.
  • Huey Lamb earned the male MVP award with a +75 points difference, showing great determination throughout the day.

The event also recognised players who have shown commitment and progress across the season:

  • Isla Jordan (South) was named Player of the Season for her effort, attitude and continuous improvement.
  • Theo Hobman (North) earned the same recognition for his development and strong performances.

Congratulations to the players, coaches, and parents on another successful event and to Team South, your 2026 Battle of the Border champions.
