British Junior Open Under 19 Championships to be staged in Nottingham in July

England Squash has announced that the 2022 British Junior Open Under 19 Boys and Girls Championships will be staged in Nottingham between Wednesday 20th to Sunday 24th July.

The Under 19 Championships will comprise 64 draws for both boys and girls, with entries backdated in order to allow players affected by the cancellation of the original event in January the chance to play.

Juniors who were aged 18 or under before 7 January 2022 will have the opportunity to enter.

The 2022 British Junior Open will provide the world’s leading junior players the opportunity to contest the prestigious Drysdale Cup.

England Squash Chief Executive Officer Mark Williams said: “The British Junior Open is one of the most prestigious championships in the world and one that all young squash players aspire to compete in.

“Since the original date in January, significant progress has been made with the easing of international travel restrictions and we are delighted that the under 19 players will have the chance to take part.

“We recognise that for many of the players, this will be their final British Junior Open and we are really pleased to be able to give them one last opportunity to compete for this historic title.”

Further details will be announced prior to entries opening on 20th May.

Plans are also being laid for the full return of the British Junior Open in 2023 for all age categories.
