Climate and Ecological Emergency

Our Vision
“England Squash will take a lead within the sports sector nationally and internationally in responding to the Climate and Ecological emergency.”
carbon neutral
Background

"Climate Change is the defining issue of our time and we are at a defining moment. The impacts of climate change are global in scope and unprecedented in scale. Without drastic action today, adapting to these impacts in the future will be more difficult and costly." (United Nations, 2021)

England Squash acknowledge there is a climate and ecological emergency and are committed to reducing our impact on the environment by changing how we work and encouraging others to consider what they can do too.

As part of this commitment England Squash have chosen to offset our carbon emissions, making us the first carbon neutral Sports Governing Body in England. While we are extremely proud of this, we are seeking to do more and will take steps to reduce our carbon footprint and use of single use plastics in the future.

As well as being carbon neutral, England Squash has committed to reducing its carbon footprint by 10% annually. In order for us to achieve this we will ensure that we understand and take the necessary steps to reduce the impact our work has on the environment.

We will also support the squash community including; County Associations, clubs, coaches and volunteers to reduce their impact on the environment and help squash be at forefront of the climate and ecological agenda.
