What are we doing to help tackle the climate and ecological emergency?

We want to take a lead within the sports sector nationally and internationally in responding to the climate and ecological emergency. We are undertaking a number of steps to reduce the impact our work has on the environment. See what we are doing by clicking through each title below.

Carbon Neutral Organisation

Carbon Neutral - or Net Zero Carbon - is a term used to describe the state of an entity (such as a company, service, product or event), where the carbon emissions caused by them have been balanced out by funding an equivalent amount of carbon savings elsewhere in the world. We are proud to be a Carbon Neutral organisation.

Reduced Travel & Virtual Meetings

Where possible we will reduce our travel and ensure that meetings take place using remote software. This will help to reduce our carbon footprint.

Reduce our Waste

Another way we are tackling the climate change agenda is to reduce the amount of waste we generate. Whether it is the plastic waste from our events or the paper waste from our office, we will ensure we review and reduce the amount of waste we produce. What waste we do produce, we'll recycle wherever possible!

Stop Using Single Use Plastics

Where we can we'll opt to use recyclable materials rather than plastic based items (such as disposable cups and coffee pods). We'll also stop using single use plastics entirely and aim to adopt this position across all of our competitions and events. Finally, we'll repair gadgets and equipment when they break down instead of replacing them with new ones - helping them last longer and reduce the consumption and waste within our business.

Choose Sustainable Suppliers

We believe that every organisation has a duty to act responsibly in selecting the partners it chooses to work with. We'll choose suppliers who demonstrate they have good environmental practices and are aligned to our values, including being environmentally-friendly. Where we can, we will challenge and support our partners to do more to help tackle the climate and ecological emergency.

Raise Awareness Among Employees, Clients and Other Stakeholders

We are proud of the part that we are playing in helping the environment and will work with our partners to help them develop ways to reduce their carbon footprint and impact on the environment too. We will do this by sharing our knowledge and providing partners both locally and internationally with guidance and ideas on what they can do to help tackle the climate and ecological emergency.

Recycling Equipment

We are currently in the process of working with an external organisation to look into the recycling of squash balls.

Our Measures
  • We will remain carbon neutral year on year.
  • We will aim to cut our carbon dioxide emissions by 10% annually.
  • We will stop using single use plastics.
