England stars Daryl Selby, Sarah-Jane Perry and Alison Waters all featured as the No.5 Barristers Chambers National Club Championships were settled in Birmingham.
Allam British Open finalist Perry overcame a strong challenge from her international teammate Waters as Kenilworth women’s beat Colets women’s 2/1 at the Edgbaston Priory Club.
While World No.12 Selby beat his England colleague Tom Richards 11/5, 11/13, 11/5, 11/9 as Colets men’s drew with Roehampton 2/2. The result came down to the number of games won by each team, with Colets winning 9/7.
World No.8 Perry and World No.9 Waters will both feature in
the PSA Dubai World Series Finals in June. They came face-to-face in Birmingham
at the weekend and it was the in-form 26-year-old Perry who came out on top, as
she did at the National Squash Championships in February, 11/9, 14/12, 8/11,
12/10.
Both Colets and Kenilworth will be invited to represent England, alongside last year’s European women’s champions Edgbaston Priory Club at the European Club Championships, taking place in Paderborn, Germany, in September.
